Ecorefurbishment event
November 2008 and 2009

48householders attended the first Eco-Refurb your House course held at Bollington Arts Centre. This amazing turnout shows just how seriously the people of Bollington are taking their domestic energy efficiency. This one-day course was run by Nick Parsons from the South Yorkshire Energy Centre. It covered renewable technologies, how to insulate, particularly in hard to insulate solid wall houses such as many of Bollington's stone cottages, how to improve air-tightness, how to appraise and choose materials for least environmental impact.

March 2008 Sir Nicholas Winterton DL MP visits Carbon Revolution exhibition at Discovery Centre

Sir Nicholas Winterton, the local Member of Parliament, spent more than an hour enjoying the Discovery Centre and talking to members of the management team and volunteers on Saturday afternoon, 15th March 2008. He also took a considerable interest in the Carbon Revolution project, which is on exhibition at the Centre during March and April, and discussed the subject at length with Nicola & Warren Percival. Sir Nicholas was immensely impressed by the dedication of volunteers to these projects which he noted was carrying on the fine tradition so well established in Bollington over many years.

Volunteers attended the local tree planting day on February 15th, held by the Kerrige Ridge and Inglersey Vale Countryside and Herritage project, and the Bollington Carbon Revolution. Over 20 volunteers spent the day planting native tree species around the Bollington area.

Arts Centre event hailed a great success!

Three dozen Bollingtonians attended the Carbon Revolution's first public presentation on Friday 9th November 2007 explaining the problems of CO2 and illustration many examples of possible solutions that the audience could take home and try for them selves. Among the highlights were Rob Palmer (pictured) showing how he saved £3,000 in six months by selling his car and cycling to work and group leader Nicola Percival showing how savings could be made by improving home insulation and changing over to a water meter. And both these examples resulted in lower carbon footprints!

February & May 2008
Film screenings

In February 2008 sixty people turned out to view 'Inconvenient Truth', Al Gore's award winning film about climate change. This was the first film evening put on by the Carbon Revolution group and was followed by a filming of The 11th Hour in May 2008 February 2008 Tree Planting day Volunteers attended the local tree planting day on February 15th, held by the Kerrige Ridge and Inglersey Vale Countryside and Herritage project, and the Bollington Carbon Revolution.
